18 years of Sydney ensuites, built by our own trades

Empire Bathrooms has designed and built ensuite renovations across Sydney since 2007. You get private, hotel-style retreats planned to make the most of every centimetre in our Dural showroom, priced up front, and built by in-house tradespeople.

From the Hills District through to the North Shore, that’s more than 2,733 completed bathrooms and counting, including the tight, awkward ensuites other renovators would rather avoid. Every renovation is handled by our own team, your plumbing, tiling, carpentry and waterproofing all done by full-time Empire tradespeople, so one crew is accountable from demolition to handover.

One licensed team, in-house

Licensed across building, plumbing, drainage and waterproofing, one of the only bathroom companies in Sydney that certifies its own waterproofing. In an ensuite, which is small, enclosed and used every day, that is exactly where things tend to go wrong, which is why every bathroom we build carries a 10-year leak-free guarantee.

See and touch your selections first

Our Dural showroom carries premium tiles, tapware, vanities, screens and cabinetry, including the compact, space-smart fixtures an ensuite needs. Our in-house interior designers help you pull it into one considered scheme at no cost. Ask us about our AI-generated visual mockups, so you can see your new ensuite before you commit.

Empire Bathrooms recently completed a total renovation of our small ensuite. From the first contact with Michael we found him to be totally professional and helpful, providing very practical information to help guide us through the process. Every one of Michael’s different trades people were well presented, polite and punctual. The entire team worked seamlessly and the job was completed in record time. The quality of work was excellent and we are absolutely thrilled with the result.

Ensuite Renovations Sydney
You’re own little sanctuary

An ensuite that feels like a retreat, not an afterthought

Too many ensuites are a dark, dated afterthought. A shower you back into, a vanity with no bench, poor light, and nowhere to put a towel. Or maybe you would love an ensuite off the main bedroom and have been told there simply is not room for one. Either way, the ensuite is the most personal room in the house, and it is worth getting right.

Done well, a new ensuite gives you three things at once, privacy and convenience every morning, the quiet comfort of a proper master retreat, and real value when you come to sell, since a good ensuite is one of the upgrades buyers notice most.

Renovating an ensuite, or adding a new one

Empire handles both, and they are different jobs.

  • Renovating your existing ensuite. We strip it back, rework the layout where it helps, re-waterproof to Australian Standards and rebuild it with modern fixtures and finishes.
  • Adding a new ensuite. As a licensed builder and plumber, Empire can create an ensuite where there is currently none, converting part of a bedroom, a robe or an unused nook, running the new plumbing and drainage, and building it from the studs out.
The design principles

Designing a compact ensuite that works

Most ensuites are small, so every centimetre has to earn its place. These are the moves Empire’s designers use, and why they work.

Wall-hung vanity and toilet

Floating both off the floor shows more tile and hides the cistern in the wall, reclaiming depth and making a tight room read larger.

Frameless walk-in shower

Losing the framed screen and hob removes the visual wall in the middle of the room, so the space feels open rather than boxed in.

A cavity sliding door

A door that slides into the wall means it never clashes with the bed, the vanity or the shower, which in an ensuite is often the difference between a workable layout and a cramped one.

Large-format tiles and a light palette

Fewer grout lines and consistent tone make a small ensuite feel calm and continuous.

Recessed niche and smart storage

Built-in wall storage keeps the floor and benourtop clear without stealing space.

A large, well-lit mirror

Reflects light and depth, and makes the room feel twice the size.

Hotel-style touches

A heated towel rail, layered lighting and underfloor heating turn a functional ensuite into a genuine retreat.

If yours is especially tight, our small bathroom renovations page covers space-saving design in more depth.

Extremely professional and courteous. A linen cupboard taken out to give the Bathroom more space. A very exciting process made easier by humour, good natured workers and attention to detail. I was high impressed with the whole process and feel very satisfied and happy to be recommending this company.

Mike and the team at Empire Bathrooms were punctual, professional and did not disappoint from start to finish. Their products are of great quality and the recommended floor plan for what was a challenging layout turned out better than what we could have imagined.

Ensuite renovations with Empire Bathrooms start from $19,980. Because the waterproofing, plumbing and tiling are the same skilled work as a full bathroom, an ensuite often costs more than its small size suggests. Adding a brand-new ensuite costs more again due to new plumbing runs. You receive a fixed, itemised quote before any work begins.
Most ensuite renovations take around two to three weeks on site from demolition to handover. Your completion date is set in the contract before work starts.
Yes. As a licensed builder and plumber, Empire can create a new ensuite off a bedroom by converting a robe, nook or part of the room, running the new plumbing and building it from the studs out. We will tell you at the consultation whether your space and existing plumbing make it practical.
Yes. A generous frameless walk-in shower usually works better in a tight ensuite than trying to fit a bath as well. Empire’s designers will show you what genuinely fits your footprint.
